It doesn’t happen very often, but yes, at times we take a big swing… and miss. I went a might 0-fer in the wildcard playoff picks and only one correct if you give us the points in the Chiefs-Colts game. Last week, Drew Brees played lackluster football, just like everyone predicted he would. It was the Eagles, though, who couldn’t capitalize on his two picks, and another Saints fumble. Now New Orleans is out of the cold and playing in a more comfortable setting… a dome.
Unfortunately, the Saints’ road playoff woes will pick back up after taking a one-week hiatus and they’ll learn a valuable lesson yet again… win your division and win the privlege of a home game. Seahawks easily roll into the conference final.

Indianapolis Colts at New England Patriots – Sat, Jan 11 8:15 PM EST – CBS
Point Spread: New England Patriots -7
Awesome comeback or complete embarrassment? Whichever the case, if the Colts let themselves get as far behind as they did last week, they might as well stay in the locker room. They most likely learned their lesson.
Both the Colts and Patriot offenses have been decimated by injuries during the regular season, so don’t expect either of them to move on past this game. This one will be tighter than most think so take the free touchdown and don’t look back.

San Francisco 49ers at Carolina Panthers – Sun, Jan 12 1:05 PM EST – FOX
Point Spread: Niners -2
As we mentioned above, seeing a road favorite in the second round of the NFL playoffs is pretty unusual. Unfortunately for the Panthers, there is a reason why. It would have been nice to see Carolina ease in by winning a wild card game before being bounced out of the playoffs, but this team isn’t ready for prime time.
Look for the Niners to have this game locked by halftime.

San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos – Sun, Jan 12 4:40 PM EST – CBS
Point Spread: Broncos -10
This is the blowout game this week, right? Guess again. This exact matchup at this exact location was played just one month ago and it resulted in a 27-20 Chargers win. San Diego pulled ahead just before the half and never looked back.
The Chargers may not win this game, but don’t be surprised if they do. Eat up the 10-point spread on this game that will probably be decided late in the 4th quarter.
