Week 2 NFL Picks, Predictions and Stone Cold Locks – Against the Spread, Totals and Money Line

What a wild week one in the NFL. Unfortunately, I came out rusty like Romo and we went 2-2 and lost 1.35 units, but now we have some film to review and we have a better idea on each team. I think a lot of people will be betting hard against the Vikings with the absence of AP, but I would be weary.  We all remember what happened when Trent Richardson got traded ….

Instead, lets take a look at a few games that could be profitable …

Detroit Lions at Carolina Panthers (-2.5):

Everybody is high on the Lions right now after they dismantled a Giants  team that doesn’t appear to be very good. Megatron went off and the defense held their own when they needed too. The Panthers won our underdog bet without starting QB Cam Newton. Many people where high on the Bucs, but not I. I think what this game will ultimately come down too is how rusty is Cam Newton. Can he put up over 20 points to win this game? I do not think so. I will gamble that the Lions offense can put up some points on the stout Panthers defense. Lions to win +115 risk 2 units.

Seattle Seahawks at San Diego Chargers (+4):

This line was Seattle -6.5 earlier and now has dropped to -4. That means some serious money has dropped on the Chargers recently. Conventional wisdom tells us that the Seahawks are way better than the Chargers, so we should load up on Seattle but that never seems to work out right. I think this is a trap game after Seattle destroyed the Packers in the season opener. I like the Chargers to hold their own here, but ill buy it to a TD   San Diego +7 -155 to win 2 units.

New England Patriots at Minnesota Vikings (+3)

What are you doing? We agreed not to touch this game, right? Well turns out that the game started around +7 for the vikings and is now down to +3. That means their are some serious NE doubters out there. For what its worth, I am pretty high n the Dolphins this season… the Vikings? Not so much. The Vikings may be in turmoil without AP, but teams usually have a knack to overcome that. Speaking of overcoming, the Patriots overcome losses by winning. They are 33-4 straight up after a loss. That is a stat that I will ride with. It may not be pretty, but I think Brady gets it down. He can’t lose twice in a row to low profile teams.  Patriots -180 to win 2 units.

Arizona Cardinals at New York Giants (-2.5)

Carson Palmer has just been ruled out for today’s game. This changes a lot of things because Drew Stanton hasn’t played in almost 4 years. While I do not think the Giants are that great, Arizona has had offensive woes with Palmer, I think that they will struggle even more without him. As long as the Giants do not shoot themselves in the foot, they should be able to take this one. Let’s go big…

Giants -140 to win 5 units.
