Earlier this week – elements of the Indian government decided it would ban more than 800 sites from being accessed by its citizens.
This was mainly aimed at pornography, in an attempt to prevent it from becoming a “Social Nuisance.” Also targeted were comics and various entertainment sites that were deemed to ‘Immoral’ or ‘Inappropriate’. Never mind that this is the same land that produced the Kama Sutra, (for the sexually adventurous), and has an estimated 22-32% poverty rate. Which I’m sure is a much bigger social concern to those affected, than if their neighbour is beating off.
For once we here at TMRZoo.com were not deemed ‘Inappropriate’ and were, therefore, not affected by the ban. However some of our friends, such as CollegeHumour.com, MrSkin.com and BarrStoolSports.com – were affected by this ban.
I say ‘were’ because in less than two days after the ban was implemented, the Supreme Court in India overturned the ban; citing it as being against citizens rights.
Apparently the government agencies (responsible for the ban) had tried to do this in secret. And, after making their decision to implement the ban, the government agencies involved had instructed media outlets to begin blocking the sites they had compiled on a list. Though how they figured that citizens of the worlds second largest Internet community would not notice is a bit of a head scratcher. India has 350 + million Internet users; behind China at 600 + million Internet users and ahead of the United States at 280 + million Internet users.
The ban was immediately noticed, and less than 48 after implementing it, the ban was lifted by court order. The exception to this was any site that features child pornography; something I’m sure most people would agree with. This ban spiked my interest in something. If the government thought that people wouldn’t notice a ban on porn sites, then surely there must not be an Indian porn industry, and there for no Indian porn stars.
Wrong again.
Not only did I find a list of Indian porn stars, I found multiple lists of Indian porn stars. As well as video links, blogs, stars websites, photos, calendars, posters, interviews and appearances – from both in the west, and in India. This is not a new thing, some of these stars have been active for years; and their names may be well known to porn aficionados.
Here’s the names of just a few of the ladies, openly working in porn, who are of Indian descent; some currently living & performing in India: Priya Anjali Rai, Sunny Leone, Destiny Deville, Sahara Knite, Anjali Kara, Iriana Mistry, Jayde Jewel, Gaya Patel and RahKee
To find the names for this list, all I did was type ‘Indian Porn Stars’ into a Google search, and viola. Just as easy was finding pictures of these women, by clicking ‘Images’ after the search.
There are many more names of Indian porn stars that I discovered, and fans could probably contribute many names as well. Likewise there is (most likely) a long list of names, of Indian women, who have done porn that will either not reach star status, or no longer work in the industry. So clearly the government agencies, which decided to implement the ban, had not done any homework on the matter. If they had their homework then they would have known that porn is not just from outside India, but also quite alive from inside India.
Whatever your personal feelings about pornography, I will leave to you. The point of this article is not to sway people one or another about porn; but rather to discuss something that made international headlines from an angle that is all TMRZoo.com. I will leave it up to you, the reader, to find examples of these ladies ‘performances’ (should you wish), but I don’t plan on leaving you empty handed (pun intended); and so I leave you with, safe to view, images of some of the ladies mentioned in the above list.
