The Low Down
Known as “The Mansion On Bourbon,” the Scores brand is a formidable gentlemen’s club experience on Bourbon Street in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans. While retaining the historic appearance of the interior of its property, Scores New Orleans nonetheless offers a spacious interior, excellent drink options and some of the top dancer talent in the plethora of gentlemen’s clubs that line Bourbon Street. As with all of my gentlemen’s clubs reviews, I’ve rated the club on a scale of one to five stars, with five stars being the best. Before we get started, I did have the chance to review quite a number of gentlemen’s clubs in New Orleans during my trip, and there are a few things you should be aware of before you head out to the Bourbon Street gentlemen’s club scene:
New Orleans Club Rule #1: Stick With The Name Brands!
While the name brand clubs, such as Penthouse, Hustler and Déjà Vu may be the more upscale and pricier options, the quality of your experience will usually be much better here than the little hole-in-the-wall clubs on Bourbon Street. The name brand club parent companies have put a ton of money into giving “Vegas-class style” to the older historic properties on Bourbon Street. Despite the name brand stigma, drink prices are usually the same and you can often still enjoy yourself on a conservative budget.
New Orleans Club Rule #2: Be Careful On Bourbon Street!
While this could be said for any gentlemen’s club, be careful of your surrounding on your way to, while on and leaving Bourbon Street. With a high crime rate and excessive outside drinking, Bourbon Street can get a little sketchy, especially in the evening, so it’s best not to wander around by yourself and arrange your transportation in advance.
Location & Facilities – 4 Stars
Scores New Orleans is located directly on Bourbon Street between Conti and St. Louis Streets. While there isn’t dedicated parking for the club, there likewise isn’t dedicated parking for the plethora of bars, restaurants and shops in the area. Your best bet for getting to and from the club is taxi, bike taxi or Uber/Lyft. The main party area is located on the first floor, which features one main stage along with a three-pole stage known as “The Runway” as well as the bar area and three flat screen televisions. There is no smoking allowed in the club, a problem mitigated by their spacious outdoor courtyard area located in the back of the club. Upstairs is where most of the action takes place, with numerous couch and VIP rooms available for private dances, a party room with balcony overlooking Bourbon Street as well as a pool room to party with the dancers. My one complaint about the club was that, despite some of the elegance of the historic interior, many of the upstairs rooms could’ve used some updating in terms of walls, carpeting and floors to match the quality of most upscale gentlemen’s clubs.
Staff – 5 Stars
Although lacking a door greeter (which you’ll find at many of the upscale gentlemen’s clubs), I was met at the door by Chelsea, one of Scores New Orleans’ dancers, who was as sultry as she was friendly. Overall, the staff at Scores couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating during my trip. Megan, my VIP room waitress, went out of her way to make sure that my entertainer and I were well taken care of.
Food & Drink – 4 Stars
As with all of the Bourbon Street gentlemen’s clubs food isn’t served in the club, but with all of the local dining options a few feet away on Bourbon Street this definitely isn’t a problem. Scores New Orleans offers an excellent selection of domestic and imported beers as well as plenty of top-shelf liquor options. I ordered my standard Malibu rum and pineapple for $11.00, a typical price for a drink along Bourbon Street. The club also offers a hookah menu if you so wish to partake.
Dancers – 4 Stars
While the club offers a wide variety of dancers with different ethnicities and ages, I couldn’t help but spend most of my time with the incredible sexy Angie, who managed to convince me to join her for an unforgettable half hour in the VIP room.
Value – 4 Stars
The prices at Scores New Orleans are competitive with many of the other upscale gentlemen’s clubs on Bourbon Street, although there aren’t that many daily specials to be found either on their website or on their social media. Be sure to visit ScoresNOLA.com for a free admission coupon, although during the slower hours cover isn’t charged (or, at least it wasn’t when I visited).
Website & Social Media – 3 Stars
Despite having plenty of information regarding location, pictures of the club, amenities and links to their Facebook and Twitter pages, the Scores New Orleans website needs some serious work in terms of a modern appearance to set itself up to the Scores standard of quality and match the sleek appearances of the websites of many of its sister Scores properties.
In Brief…
Scores New Orleans combines the best of both gentlemen’s club options on Bourbon Street: a spacious club with the historic charm of the French Quarter with the modern amenities that you’ll expect from a high-end gentlemen’s club. Whether you’re on your own or with a group, Scores New Orleans has something for everyone.
