I had brainstorm about what i could do to preserve the side dots but still have the dark stain. I was thinking it could be possible to do a graphic around the dots to make them blend into the surrounding black stained areas. I have heard of people printing onto wax paper then transferring designs to wood. Not sure what pattern or symbols i could use for each.
Sort of like i did on this one but more subtle and transparent. I also wouldn't have it go the entire way across the back of the neck, I am thinking 1cm or so over and below the dots themselves. thoughts lads?

That neck is badass.
I like your idea for sure. I am curious what symbols or designs you might have in mind. For the most part you are just trying to have visible side markers right?
