Something very special
#1
My friend that is dying from cancer gave me his 1978 Alvarez Yairi DY 85 , in pretty good shape for it's age. Original owner I do believe he bought it several years after it was new but never taken off the rack. He has had it at least 30 - 35 years. Got a case and a stand with it.[Image: Alvarez%20DY%2085%20002.jpg]

After a good scrubbing of the fretboard and oiling , polishing the frets seems to have it in best condition it can be. Had a set of Grover 18:1 Rotomatics that came off the MK so they went on because the old ones were in bad shape with gaps in them etc. A little tightening of the truss rod made the action good everywhere (most likely never turned since 1978) I dug a set of bridge pins out of the Hondo II until I can get a Tusq set. Heavily figured Brazilian Rosewood back and sides [Image: Alvarez%20DY%2085%20006.jpg] [Image: Alvarez%20DY%2085%20004.jpg] Just a little bit of tweaking and it is by far the best acoustic guitar in this house.
