Not that I really want to defend it, but the show is doing exactly what it's supposed to do, create stars. Look how many music awards Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry, and Carrie Underwood have recieved alone, not to mention all the albums by all of the others (Jordon Sparks, Bo Bice, Clay Aiken (God help us),etc..), and the Oscar Award for Jennifer Hudson.
