U.S. Says Threat of Mexican Drug Cartels Approaching 'Crisis Proportions'

I would imagine weed is pretty easy to grow seeing they do in 3rd world counties without fancy irrigation systems or hyper - fertilizers like Monsanto. I bet Monsanto could grow some killer chronic.

So you figure a pound of weed costs $2,000! If farmers were growing it legally I could see it being a couple of bucks a pound to grow. Tobacco sells for $20 per pound retail so the farmer gets a huge mark up, lets even double that number! The government could wrap $80 - $200 dollars worth of taxes on $40 worth of weed and people would still be pumped to pay those prices. $240 a lbs for good weed! $15 per ounce. The states could even tack on another 25% tax and it still wouldnt matter. $20!

Do the same with cocaine and heroin make them so cheap and assessable there is no need to steal my flat screen for drugs. The average junkie can get a fixes searching the trash for cans. Not only the taxes but think of what we would save in court costs, police salarys and operations costs for jails.

O yeah and we put the Cartels out of business.
