What did you watch this weekend?
I finally watched Lone Survivor. It's fairly true to the book. A couple of distinct licenses taken by the director:

1. Marcus seems to walk a short while before being rescued by Gulab. In the book he walked and dragged himself several miles over the course of days before he was found and saved.
2. Part of saving him included Gulab giving him "medicine" that later turned out to be heroin. It DID alleviate his extreme pain.
3. The final rescue scene: There was no helicopter and gunship rescue fight scene. Pure Hollyweird fantasy.

Otherwise this is a fairly accurate portrayal, and the actors did a good job representing the Seals and their experience. I bought the DVD for $3 on Black Friday, so it was cheap entertainment. I spend more on the e-book.
Because I said so.

Finally convinced my brother and a friend of ours to watch The Road Warrior with me because it is one of my favorites.

Of course, they didn't like it.
Trust me, I'm a medical professional.

I nearly pissed my pants laughing when Motherfucker Jones was accusing the little guy of being racist.

I went and saw The Hobbit part 3 with some friends last night/this morning.

1. Good movie.
2. The CGI was very slightly shotty in some places.
3. MUCH more action and less sitting around than the first 2 movies.
4. Ties in quite well with the LOTR trilogy.

The moment that I noticed the most CGI problems was when the lake town was in flames. The fire just wasn't impressive looking. I've seen many forest and structure fires IRL so that might have kinda ruined CGI fire for me.

Wait...the Hobbit part 3 has already been released? I just bought the dvd for the first one.
Because I said so.

Yup, premiered on Monday for a marathon of all three and Tuesday night for just the new one.

Today is the technical "release day".

I had my yearly viewing of the Happy Days episode, "Guess Who's Coming to Christmas" followed by the movie Silent Night. The Linda Hamilton movie set on Christmas Eve, not the horror movie.

I watched French Connection earlier today... Currently deciding between The Getaway, The Day of The Jackal and Deathwish. All in their original 70s awesome of course.

Might as well just watch all three. :)
