I pursued my soloing to a level of " think it, play it " Musical theory is not as important but helpfull. Manual dexterity [ practising and playing ] is more relevant.

I'm still trying to get better at lead playing.
I'm at the point where I can play what I feel and be very much "in-the-moment" or "in-the-zone" or whatever, but too often those times are fleeting and quickly get replaced by the old "listen->think->play" mode which is what precedes the "feel/play at the same time" mode in terms of learning/progression as a lead guitarist, imo.
Still gotta get over that hump. Probably just a matter of practicing/playing and getting more familiar with the fretboard and the sounds that come out of all the intervals.
