What did you watch this weekend?
I worked my way through the four Jaws movies over the last week.

Here's my thoughts:

Jaws - A true classic, there are parts that still make me jump

Jaws II - Not great but not bad, most of the characters are really unlikable and you're cheering for the shark to eat them

Jaws III - (Jaws 3-D) Shot in cheesy 1980's 3-D, it's just bad. The acting is bad and the special effects are terrible and look really bad because of the 3-D.

Jaws IV: The Revenge - So a shark follows the woman all the way from New England to the Bahamas? I don't know how the acting could be worse then the previous movie, but they nailed it. I remember an interview with Michael Caine years after the movie came out. He said he knew going in that it was a terrible movie but he wanted a new house and it was an easy paycheck. Yeah, it was all kinds of bad.

We just watched Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

It was entertaining and held my attention.

That's getting harder for Hollywood to do with their sad attempts at what they believe is reality and their need for blood and violence.
Because I said so.

Five hour Bowie special on Saturday night.

Bobby - The story of several individuals working at the Ambassador hotel in the hours leading up to the Robert Kennedy assassination in the kitchen. It was pretty good, better then I anticipated.

We watched "The Sum of All Fears" last night.

It was plodding at times. Affleck was a poor choice for the part of Jack Ryan. I liked the movie overall, though.

I saw Trainwreck and Ant-Man over the weekend. Trainwreck was hysterical - John Cena's lines were pure gold and LeBron gave a surprisingly excellent performance - but Ant-Man was okay. I bought Rudd more than I thought I would.

I watched Sharknado 2. I was really lost because I haven't seen Sharknado 1 and I turned the TV off 5 minutes into Sharknado 3 before The Hoff even showed up.

It was a deep character study about a group of people who find themselves facing an unspeakable horror with dignity, humor, and chain saws. Well, maybe 2 out of 3 of those things anyway...

The only thing that could save Sharknado 4 (die, Tara, die!!!) would be if they cast William Shatner as a great white.
Someone should put that in their signature…

Wonderland - Based on John Holmes' involvement in a triple homicide in 1981. Interesting story but I didn't think Val Kilmer was a good casting choice.
