You're right. For the most part, many of them go away very quickly, if you even hear from them at all, but there are a few besides Clarkson who have done quite well:
Not that I like country music, in fact, I can't stand it, but Carrie Underwood is considered the current queen of that genre, and don't forget Jennifer Hudson's Oscar, or the success that Daughtry has had, just to name a quick few.
That's not too bad a success story for the show.
