If I were still only playing guitar, I would be in the same boat.

But my band seems to be heading in the direction of doing new wave/disco/funk/etc, and being able to do synth bass lines is essential for that kind of music.

I wouldn't want to do "The Safety Dance" with just a bass and an amp.
