Thought the whole reason to have a Tele was for the lipstick neck pup ? My custom Tele has A3 sinclecoil pups in the bridge and neck and the greasebucket mod , it is crisp and bright on the bridge and just great sounding on the neck.I keep thinking it should have at least one more pickup (maybe 2) for some weird reason. Might be all the work I did for a friends build starting out with a Nashville Deluxe. For the most part minis hums are fairly bright and pretty sharp , I am going to put 3 Fralins minis in my Vox SG and probably wire them series/parallel. Feel free to ask Brandon and Devon about it , they have both played my Tele.

+1. The only reason I'd use a Tele neck pickup is to get that "Killing in the Name" tone, but that's like one tone. A P90 or a minihum would be so much better. I've never really dug the Tele neck pickup tone.

As far as the minihum in the tele goes, I honestly can't remember what they sound like. Try talking to Chris, he's got that pretty blue Warmoth with the mini hum in the neck.

Also, if you don't have anybody in mind for the pickups yet, check out Zhangbucker. I LOVE the pickups he wound for my D'avanzo, especially the bridge pickup. It's everything you described in a tele bridge, and his prices are pretty great.

I'm not a fan, Neck pickup slanted and a matching headstock then maybe. But you know wha the hell would i know haha. Its like asking if a women should be your wife. Only you will know.

And I never mentioned the only bridge you should use is a Babicz either geez ? Sounds like people around here have never played a good Tele through a nice rig if they don't like the neck pup sound?

I've always just found them a bit dull and lifeless. It could be that I've not played a good one. I'm going to guitar center tonight I'll pick up a Tele or three.

Won't bet on GC having even a remotely decent Tele but you might get lucky , plug it into a Supersonic or something that has a bunch of good sounds in it.

They have a used Grosh up on the wall. I played it before and it felt heavenly.
