Week 5 NFL Preview
#1
Bills & Titans Go For 5-0, Giants 4-0; Eagles-Redskins Clash, In NFC East; Ex-Division Foes Square Off
Three teams seek to remain spotless?two keep a division steaming?and one finally returns home.

It all adds up to one thing: a lot is happening in the NFL this week. A few examples:

Two teams ? the Buffalo Bills (4-0 for the first time in 16 years) and Tennessee Titans (4-0 for the first time in their history) will go for 5-0 records. But it?s only Week 5, they both say. ?We still have a chance to go 4-12,? says Titans linebacker KEITH BULLUCK.

Another team ? that other club in New York, the Super Bowl champion Giants who were quiet in their bye week while BRETT FAVRE was throwing six touchdown passes -- will look to up their record to 4-0 for the first time since 1990.

One game features a team (Tampa Bay) that has won its last three games after losing its first vs. a club (Denver) that won its first three and lost its last. But ?there?s a lot of football left,? says Broncos quarterback JAY CUTLER. ?We can?t go in a panic here.?

Another game ? the Indianapolis Colts at the Houston Texans ? will be the first home game of the season for the Texans and signal some return of normalcy to Houstonians after the devastation of Hurricane Ike.

All that ? and a whole lot more ? is in store for Week 5. As NFL teams either conclude the first quarter of their season, or start the second, who knows what?s in store? ?That?s the NFL,? says Pittsburgh Steelers head coach MIKE TOMLIN, fresh off a thrilling Monday night win over Baltimore. ?That?s what makes this thing so awesome. You can?t blink.?

So, as the NFL scoring average per game (45.2) through four weeks ties 1989 for second highest since 1980 after the 45.3 of 2002, here are some, but far from the only, ?can?t blink? Week 5 games:

People in Dallas are nuts. First, they expect a Super Bowl appearance this year from a team that hasn't won a playoff game in over a decade. They lose a game and people start panicking that the season is over. Yesterday, there was an article in the paper that TO had a "serious" talk with Romo after the game Sunday. They are two main parts of the offense and highly paid, I would hope they are having lots of "serious" talks.

Damn Cowboy fans, nothing ever changes.
Will it blend? That is the question.

I'm not panicking but you have to remember the media lives for this kind of stuff. The press asked TO after the game if he thought he got the ball enough. The question was asked like 4 different times and finally TO (dumbass that he is) finally took the bait. There is nothing wrong with him speaking to his QB after the game after a loss. If anything Cowboy fans should be pissed about is why they only ran MB3 8 times while Felix had no carries. The offense is too pass happy in IMO. All of this can be easily corrected. The D is another story... But it's way too early in the season to be panicking or talking Super Bowl as well.

When they do get the ball to him he seems to be a step away from it. I think he is on the downside of his career with out a doubt he peaked in Philly.

I agree with you. It just amazes me the way the Dallas media and fans react to the Cowboys. It is one extreme or the other. If they win, it's time for championship number 6. Lose a game and they're ready to tear down and rebuild.

I saw one letter in the paper where a guy bitched that too many writers picked against the Cowboys and the Dallas paper should have more supportive writers. Beyond the "who cares" factor, one of the writers has admitted that for years he just picks the home teams every week because he doesn't care (and he's sitting at 60% so far this season).

I'm still waiting to see if Rodgers is going to play Sunday. Why Green Bay didn't pick up a veteran QB for a backup still baffles me.

dude, I don't care what the media thinks and I really don't care what those assbags on ESPN think. I saw the post game press conference and it was so obvious that Ed Werder guy was trying to get a rise out of him. I mean it was right after a tough loss. But he was dumb for even answering it.

As for Dallas fans from Dallas they are a bit spoiled. I've been to several games at Texas Stadium and they are the most laid back lazy bunch of slacks I've ever seen. I would plead with them to get up & make noise when the defense was on the field and they just sit there. They hardly ever get up off their feet or make any noise. The Philly game this year was the first time I saw the crowd really into it. They get taken out of a game very easily. Plus they sell 1/3 of the tickets to opposing teams fans. They aren't the best fans for sure. I think the Dallas fans from around the country are more die-hard.

You might be right because he's in his mid-30s now. But I'd still put him in the top 5 receivers in the league. Talent wise that is. Not sure about his heart. He gets too easily frustarted when they put a safety over the top and double him. Thus taking him out of the game. It happened against GB and Romo went elsewhere with success plus they ran the ball. It seemed they were just trying to please him against the Skins by forcing the ball to him. That needs to stop.
