Its camp time! The Football season will be close upon us. Let's start the discussions. Feel free to pick your Super Bowl favorite already.
I'd like to open this thread by welcoming the newest member of the TMR staff, Cletus, who will be taking over most of the football picks and analysis for the upcoming season.
In past years of Beat the House, we had my picks accompanied by the result of the week simulated on Madden on the Xbox. Since Cletus will be doing all of the picks this year, and all he has is an Atari 2600 in his trailer, I'm thinking of letting his hen, Matilda, make a set of picks that replace Madden this season. That is certainly up for discussion in this thread as well.

T.O. and Ocho... should be very interesting.
Maybe the extra chromosome in each of them will cancel each other out. Or maybe two partly gay men can make a full one together.

Tim MacMahon reports that the injury suffered by Cowboys rookie receiver Dez Bryant toward the end of Friday's practice is "likely" a high ankle sprain. Bryant is scheduled for an MRI on Friday night.
Cowboys executive V.P. Stephen Jones expressed optimism when asked about the injury earlier in the day, but league sources tell MacMahon that the damage to Bryant's ankle is significant.
Bryant was the talk of spring practices and the start of training camp, and will lose momentum if he's sidelined for 2-4 weeks. The injury also likely means that Roy Williams' starting job is safer.
Assuming MacMahon's report is correct and Bryant's ankle sprain is of the high variety, slot receiver Patrick Crayton figures to get a bump in practice reps. Once a staple of Dallas' three-receiver sets in the slot, Crayton opened camp no higher than No. 4 on the depth chart.
UPDATE: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Friday night that he expects Bryant to miss 4-6 weeks. And Roy Williams just dropped another pass.

Albert Haynesworth fails conditioning test AGAIN. Is sent to his room by Shanahan.
Quote:ASHBURN, Va. (AP)ââ¬âEarly Friday morning, the cones were lined up 25 yards apart on the field for Albert Haynesworthââ¬â¢s(notes) conditioning test. He needed to complete the first part in 70 seconds or less to have a chance to pass.
He clocked 71.
Another failed effort. Once again, the two-time All-Pro defensive tackle was not allowed to participate in practice at Washington Redskins training camp.
And so the Haynesworth saga drags on. By now, some coaches or organizations would have worked out some sort of a behind-the-scenes compromise in the name of team harmony and good publicity, especially with one measly second hanging in the balance. Not Mike Shanahan. The rules are the rules are the rules for the Redskins new coach, no matter who the player is.

Shanahan is making a bad situation worst. This is going to blow up in his face.

How come all of the WRs at TOs old teams are getting hurt. I think it is voodoo I'll takeTed Ginn for the trifecta please.
Quote:Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson was injured on the training camp practice field Saturday afternoon, and had to be taken away on a cart. Though the extent of the injury is unknown, McLane's tweets indicate that Jackson may have injured his back.
After being examined by trainers on the ground, Jackson was able to get to his feet and limp "gingerly" to the cart.

Jason Reid of the Washington Post reports that Haynesworth will skip Tuesday's attempt in order to rest a balky knee that flared up while he was trying to pass the test on Monday.
21 Million, what a waste.
