As long as I have been covering Beer and Food one of my favorite topics is the tug of war between large breweries and craft brewers.
To compete in the U.S. market with Anheuser Busch, Coors, and Miller who dominate with over 80% of the sales must keep some of these brewers awake at night.
The ingenuity and talent that the smaller brewers need to have to survive puts the successful breweries in a class of their own.
In a market that probably isn’t getting any bigger every brewery is competing for shares of a consumer base brain washed by expensive ads and very clever brand positioning. This movie takes a in depth look at the beer industry and what it takes to survive.
Director Anat Baron dives into some of the most popular beers on the planet and gives the insider view of the “battles” that go on in the beer industry. Just as I watch the NCAA tournament routing for that cinderella team to get to the final four, I love the underdog, and you’ll find yourself looking at some of your favorite beers differently and hopefully searching for some of your local breweries and giving them the much needed support!
Cheers, Frank
