Yet another rumor about the next generation of Microsoft console has popped up, as tech reporter Paul Thurrott claims that Microsoft Corporation (Public, NASDAQ:MSFT) will debut the Xbox 720 at CES, while launching it during the Holiday season of 2012.
According to Thurrott during the Windows Weekly video show:
“What I’m hearing is (the next Xbox is) going to come out for holidays next year, meaning that they would almost have to announce this at CES, wouldn’t they? That’s my rumour… that we’ll expect to hear something about that. They’re going the Apple Inc. (Public, NASDAQ:AAPL) route where they want this thing to integrate very tightly with Windows 8 and Windows Phone, which is a problem with the current Xbox.”
Rumors about the unnamed Xbox 720 have been circulating lately, claiming launch dates from anywhere between 2012 to 2014. It’s even more surprising that Microsoft would debut the console at CES, rather than E3.
