As you wander through the parking lot of your favorite stadium, you will see people with LCD TVs, BBQ rotisseries grilling succulent chicken and ribs and cocktail setups that would rival the finest cocktail lounges.

You stare in awe and a bit of jealousy with your slightly burnt hot dog in one hand and a watered down American lager in the other. This is the moment when you turn to your tailgating compadres and say, “it is time for us to turn this up a notch”.

Here are a few recipes from our friends at Crown Royal that will set you on the right path. Football Tailgating Food and Cocktail Recipes

Crown Royal Wings

Ingredients:

⅓ cup Crown Royal Canadian Whisky®
⅓ cup honey, SueBee®
¼ cup soy sauce, Kikkoman®
2 tablespoons Thai chili sauce
1 packet (0.75-ounce) stir-fry seasoning, Sun Bird®
2 teaspoons crushed garlic, Gourmet Garden®
4 pounds chicken wing drumettes
3 scallions (green onions), finely chopped (optional)
¼ cup chopped peanuts, Planters® (optional)

Preparation: In a large bowl, combine whisky, honey, soy sauce, chili sauce, stir-fry seasoning, and garlic. Add drumettes, tossing to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in refrigerator for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight.

Set up grill for direct cooking over medium-high heat. Oil grate when ready to start cooking. Let drumettes stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Place on hot, oiled grill. Cook for 12 to 18 minutes or until cooked through, turning occasionally. Transfer chicken to a platter. Sprinkle with chopped scallions and peanuts (optional).

Whisky BBQ Shrimp

• 1 lb. shrimp (with tail)
• ¼ cup of Crown Royal Canadian Whisky
• ¼ cup BBQ sauce
• ¼ cup honey
• ¼ tsp. black pepper
• 1/8 tsp. garlic pepper

Preparation: Combine all ingredients, except for the shrimp, in a bowl. Add shrimp and allow to marinade in the refrigerator for an hour. Add shrimp and mixture into a large saucepan over medium high heat and cook until shrimp is opaque and cooked through.

Crown Royal Black Manhattan

Ingredients:
1 ounce of Crown Royal® Black Blended Whisky
½ ounce Cragganmore® Distillers Edition
½ ounce sweet vermouth
1 ½ ounces simple syrup
½ dashes bitters
1 piece(s) maraschino cherry

Preparation: Stir all together in a mixing glass with ice. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a cherry.

Maple Collins

Ingredients:
1.5 oz. Crown Royal Maple
.5 oz. Lemon Juice
1.5 oz. Pineapple Juice
2 dash Angostura Bitters
.5 Simple Syrup

Preparation: Mix ingredients in a shaker, top with club soda and strain into a Collins glass. Garnish with half an orange slice and a cheery.

The Beat the House Playoffs will coincide with the NFL Playoffs. Playoff contestants will be asked to predict the playoff results along with various tie-breakers.
