It seems like the entire world is obsessed by The Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. While the Olympics hold many great events, none can hold a candle to the Red Bull Crashed Ice. For those of you unfamiliar with Red Bull Crashed Ice it is the world’s fastest Ice Cross Downhill event. Athletes will go four-at-a-time through a demanding, gritty, glacial downhill course full of turns, canals and chutes. The sport looks like a cross of hockey, downhill skiing with a sprinkle of old school roller derby.
The athletes for this event come from a wide range of disciplines – hockey, downhill skiing, speed skating, boardercross, and others. The U.S. will host qualifiers for this event to decide who grabs an opportunity to be one of 100 US athletes to take on the icy track in Saint Paul February 20-22, 2014.
