FULL TILT BREWING (FTB) is set to release their newest offering, “HOPS THE CAT – IPA”; an unfiltered, (FTB’s first such offering) 7.4%, 80 IBU, India Pale Ale benefiting the locally beloved Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS). This beer launch is open to the public through “eventbrite.com” ticket sales starting today (see link below).
The launch of “HOPS THE CAT – IPA”, FTB’s newest addition to the ever growing craft beer market, will take place on Saturday, February 20th at multiple locations around Fells Point as part of FTB’s first organized Bar Crawl. All proceeds raised from this event will go to helping BARCS in their mission to accept and care for all animals in need and promote responsible pet ownership for a more humane community in Baltimore. The start of the crawl and pouring of the first pint of “HOPS THE CAT – IPA” will take place at Max’s Taphouse where registration will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Following the initial tapping at Max’s Taphouse, the crawl will continue to various other Fells Point bars every hour from 2:00 PM on. Currently signed up to participate is Max’s Taphouse, Alexander’s Tavern, Abbey Burger Bistro, The Point, Cats Eye Pub, and Admiral’s Cup.
“Full Tilt Brewing’s HOPS THE CAT IPA is a shout out to our feline pal who had a personality which was truly larger than life. Here’s to him and all the other furry friends out there who make our days a bit brighter. Cheers, little buddy.” Hops was FTB owner, Nick’s, legendary little buddy turned Full Tilt mascot. Hops the Cat’s memorable life ended far too short when he ran away from home in March of 2014. He miraculously returned home two weeks later albeit thin, scared, and hungry. Unfortunately, as it turned out, he also brought back with him, Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP); a fatal, incurable disease affecting cats. This sad truth, however, is what brought FTB and BARCS together in what we hope is a long-lasting partnership helping to reduce, if not prevent, this from happening to any other feline companions out there by microchipping any cat or dog adopted from BARCS. Remember, as they like to say, “BARCS Purrs, Too!”
“HOPS THE CAT – IPA” marks FTB’s fourth local collaborative effort. Prior to this brew, FTB has partnered with local legendary dessert, the Berger Cookie from DeBaufre Bakeries, Chesapeake Bay Trust; and the Military Family Relief Fund of Maryland.
FULL TILT BREWING comes from the background of not-cutting corners as its owners are passionate about every aspect of what they do and operate by the mantras, “Why do something half assed when you can do it full tilt?” and “Never slow down, never settle for less, and never be content with anything other than the best.” FTB knows that BARCS also lives by that approach and this newest addition to the FTB line of brews continues that way of thinking.
