A Hebridean island distillery has harnessed modern technology to watch whisky mature.
From any where in the world whisky fans can witness – live on line – whisky in the actual process of maturing in a warehouse at the Bruichladdich Distillery.
A barrel of Bruichladdich’s Islay single malt has been fitted with glass ends and a lamp to illuminate the contents as it matures in one of the distillery’s 14 warehouses.
The panning camera surveys the hundreds of maturing barrels before zooming in on the glass-ended cask made by barrel maker Radoux.

Distillery boss Mark Reynier says: “People keep asking us where the lucky angel is that gets this huge share of evaporating whisky. Watch hard enough and you’ll find out.”
