It’s hard to ready any sports publication, column or website these days without seeing at least someone mentioning New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin. Anybody that has any kind of opinion on sports is partaking in the Jeremy Lin phenomenon. Just like Tim Tebow took over the second half of the 2011 NFL season with Tebow-mania, the latest craze is “Linsanity”.
Former Georgia Congressman Ben Jones, who starred as ace mechanic “Cooter” Davenport on the hit television series “The Dukes of Hazzard”, has condemned the decision by NASCAR to prevent the use of the popular “General Lee” 1969 Dodge Charger at the Phoenix Sprint Cup race in March. In a statement Friday, NASCAR said “The image of the Confederate flag is not something that should play an official role in our sport as we continue to reach out to new fans and make NASCAR more inclusive.” “The General Lee” has a Confederate Battle Flag on its roof.
This video is released today by PlayerInjury.com to detail the concussion litigation against the NFL. The NFL “concussion” cases allege fraud and negligence against the NFL and accuses the league of hiding medical evidence about the risks of concussions and failing to warn players they risked permanent brain injury if they returned to play too soon after they had sustained a concussion.
Another mass federal lawsuit has been filed in Philadelphia on Friday, continuing the fight against the NFL by former players for concussion-related dementia and brain disease.
I don’t proclaim to be a math genius, but when I did all my years of learnin’ in the special classes at Yazoo Elementary, I finally figured out that two is greater than one. That is exactly what we have here. Eli Manning – 2, Peyton Manning – 1. It is simple math really.

Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara has earned the top spot on Brand Affinity Technologies’ monthly ranking of Rising Sports Stars, which calculates those with the most significant leap in popularity during the previous thirty days. The NHL All-Star Team Captain shattered his own record for the ‘hardest shot’ in the NHL last Saturday, firing a rocket that was clocked at an incredible 108.8 miles per hour.
With only a few days left before the kickoff of Super Bowl 46, every so-called football expert is coming out of the woodwork to explain how or why the New England Patriots or New York Giants will win the big ame. Listening to the typical rantings of sports commentators is one thing, so here is little something different… we want to know which team the dancers at Rick’s Cabaret, the favorite gentlemen’s club of the Howard Stern Show staff, are picking.
It all comes down to this. On Sunday, February 5, the New York Giants and the New England Patriots will meet in Super Bowl XLVI (6:00 PM ET, NBC) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. It marks a rematch of Super Bowl XLII, when the Giants defeated the Patriots 17-14 in one of the most exciting Super Bowls in history.
Arguably one of today’s best Two-Way Forwards, Patrice Bergeron will be watching Sunday’s NHL All-Star game from home. While I’m sure Patrice appreciates the R&R, he most certainly deserves to be a part of this year’s game. He has been the most consistent player for the Boston Bruins this year on both sides of the puck and, in some circles, is considered the reason why the Bruins’ second line has been so fluid and one of the most feared lines in the NHL this season.
