Two rounds down, and just one more to go in the TMR Zoo Playoff Pick’em contest. My God, we’ve had quite a few surprises so far in this year’s playoffs and that is certainly keeping the entire entry field honest. In the first round, we saw a team (Denver Broncos), and quarterback (Tim Tebow) that everyone was complaining didn’t deserve to be in the playoffs, knock out a top defense. Then, in round 2, The two NFC teams that everyone thought would be the Super Bowl winner (Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints), had their asses handed to them. Now here we are in round 3 for the conference championships. Did anyone expect the San Francisco 49ers playing in, let alone hosting, the NFC Championship Game.

So if you think you are out of the running for the total points grand prize, guess again. For all of the above-mentioned reasons, this thing is far from over. I’m sure the playoffs have at least one more twist for us before they are over. Read the rest of this entry »

Fortunately, you all get a “do-over” and can pick the entire playoffs once again en route to winning some great prizes. Beat the House NFL Contest – Week 17 and Season Recap

Posted by Steve Tomassetti On January - 3 - 2012 ADD COMMENTS

Oh what a difference half of a season makes. After a dreadful first half in our competition, “The House” got it together and somehow pulled together an 8 to 7 victory over the collective membership for the 2011 NFL regular season. It took all 17 weeks to accomplish the task as it was the first time our expert, Cletus, was victorious over our entire membership base.

With three games being disagreed with in the final weekend of the season, two resulted just as the House predicted. The overall pick record on the season was, however, won by a 4.5 win margin. However, that margin was in the teens and approaching the 20′s at the midseason point. You can view all of the numbers below. Read the rest of this entry »

This is your final notice to review our expert NFL week 17 picks and predictions and to enter your own so you can win some great prizes. If you haven’t noticed, this is the final week of the TMRzoo “Beat the House” contest for the 2011 season, and therefore your final shot to win some great prizes.

The season-long competition is in a deadlock heading into the final week of games. Both the collective membership and the House are tied at 7 wins each. The members dominated this contest early, but in the final two months, the House made some pretty great predictions and finally tied it up in week 15.

Right now only three games are being disagreed with, but an additional two are hanging right at the 50/50 mark in voting. We’ll need an odd number to avoid a tie on the season. If the House is beaten, then we will be awarding one final prize pack to the member who made the most correct picks for week 17. Good Luck! Read the rest of this entry »

Here we are. The final set of games for the 2011 NFL regular season. Oh, how far we’ve come in what seems to be a short amount of time. Our Week 17 “expert” NFL picks and predictions have been posted and are available for your viewing pleasure on our “Beat the House” contest page. This will be your last chance to win some prizes during the regular season. Of course, you’ll have four more chances to win in our round-by-round playoff pool. More on that below.

Week 16 was a push in our little competition here. Both the membership and The House notched 11 wins on the week, so therefore the House was not beaten and a prize pack cannot be awarded. After 16 weeks, the total weekly tally on the year is also tied, with both the House and members each getting 7 weekly wins a piece. The other 2 unaccounted for wins go to the Madden simulation, which had the best pick set for those two weeks. Read the rest of this entry »

After starting the season with a commanding 4-0 lead, the members have fallen into a 6.5 to 6.5 win tie with The House. The Madden NFL 12 simulation was responsible for the other 2 wins this year. The House now only trails the collective membership by 7.5 wins on the season… a lead that was approaching 20 at one point during the season. Cletus has been on fire in the second half of this 2011 season! Read the rest of this entry »

The week 14 and season recap is in the chart below. There were 4 picks disagreed with by the membership last week. The House came out to a hot start by winning the first two, but the membership was correct on the later two picks, splitting the week 14 picks. Since the House was only tied, not beaten, there is no winner for week 14. Read the rest of this entry »

Last Call – NFL Week 14 Expert Picks and Predictions Contest

This is your final notice to review our expert NFL week 14 picks and predictions and to enter your own so you can win some great prizes. At this point, with only a few hours left to go in week 11 voting, there are four games being disagreed with by the members… but some of them are still close enough to the 50/50 mark to slide to the agree side before kickoff.

The collective membership REALLY doesn’t like the House pick of the Rams over the Seahawks, disagreeing by a 75-25 margin. The other three games are much tighter. At this point, per the voting, the members DO NOT agree that the Texans can beat the Bengals, the Jags can beat the Bucs or the Cowboys can beat the Giants. Read the rest of this entry »

Our Week 14 “expert” NFL picks and predictions have been posted and are available for your viewing pleasure on our “Beat the House” contest page. Remember, there is a game on Thursday this week. The Week 13 “Beat the House” recap is below. Just like all NFL greats, the House is getting hot at the end of November into December, posting it’s second consecutive multiple-point victory. Four games were not agreed on in week 13 and three of them went exactly as the House predicted. Don’t look now, but after going up 4-0 to start the season, the membership only leads the House 6 weeks to 5. Read the rest of this entry »

NFL Week 13 Laser-Accurate Expert Picks and Predictions

Our Week 13 “expert” NFL picks and predictions have been posted and are available for your viewing pleasure on our “Beat the House” contest page. Remember, there is a game on Thursday this week. Make sure you get your picks in prior to the kickoff of the Thursday game if you want credit for that game. Voting will stay open until Sunday, but you won’t get credit for the Thursday games if you enter after 1:00pm EST.

The House beat the collective membership in Thanksgiving week (week 12) by a whole two games. The House was able to pick 14 out of the 16 games correctly, while the members only notched 12. It did not look good for the House as it got the very first pick of the week wrong (Detroit over Green Bay), and then had an almost as Dallas had to throw everything they had at the Dolphins to beat them by one point in the second game. From there it was clear sailing, though. Read the rest of this entry »

Our Week 12 “expert” NFL picks and predictions have been posted and are available for your viewing pleasure on our “Beat the House” contest page. It’s Thanksgiving week, so we have three games on Thursday this week. Make sure you get your picks in prior to the kickoff of the FIRST game on Thursday if you want credit for the three Thanksgiving games. Voting will stay open until Sunday, but you won’t get credit for the Thursday games if you enter after 12:30pm EST.

The Week 11 “Beat the House” recap is below. As you can see, it only took one game for the House to emerge victorious in week 11. It was the House pick of the Miami Dolphins beating the Buffalo Bills that the membership didn’t like. How’d that work out for ya? The Fins kicked the snot out of the Bills extending Buffalo’s skid to 3 losses in a row.

The Jacksonville over Cleveland pick finished just a smidge on the agree side. Had a few more members disagreed, we would have had a push in week 11. Instead, the House bested the members for the third time this season.

The final tallies for week 11 and the updated season stats are:

* The House Madden Sim Members
Week 11: 10-4 10-4 9-5
2011 Overall: 91-69 93-67 104.5-55.5

The overall tally in 2011 now is Members 6, House 3, Madden NFL Sim 2.

Votes are already pouring in for week 12 so make sure you enter yours before the final deadline… kickoff of the 1:00pm EST games on Sunday, but any entries received after the Thursday game starts will not get credit for the Thursday games.

Stay tuned for when we announce the results for NFL player of the week and find out of any member was able to correctly guess them and win the Jagermeister Cooler!

This is your final notice to review our expert NFL week 11 picks and predictions and to enter your own so you can win some great prizes. At this point, with only a few hours left to go in week 11 voting, there is only one being disagreed with by the members.

It looks like that will stay at one pick since there isn’t enough time to sway any of the other votes in agreement with the House. The majority of members do not believe that Miami will not be able to beat Buffalo when the Bills visit today. We shall see how that one plays out… the Dolphins are on a hot streak as Buffalo has been ice cold. Read the rest of this entry »

Our Week 11 “expert” NFL picks and predictions have been posted and are available for your viewing pleasure on our “Beat the House” contest page. The Week 10 “Beat the House” recap is below.

After a week of a full roster of 16 games, the schedule goes back to 14 games as the last four teams (Houston, Indy, New Orleans, Pittsburgh) finally get their bye week. Has that ever happened before? A gap in the bye weeks? In any case, week 11 will be the last time there is not a full 16 games being played.

As for week 10, the hot streak of the House ended as the members fared one game better, beating “the House” for the first time in four weeks. It was a bad week for picks overall, but we did have a few members make some decent pick sets with 10 and 11 out of 14 games guessed correctly. Only two members picked 11 right, but only one can win the prize pack of movies and AXE Hair products… that member is mcole, with a tie-breaking 96 wins for the season. That number places mcole in fourth overall place in the competition. Read the rest of this entry »

NFL Week 10 Expert Picks and Predictions and Week 9 Recap

Posted by Cletus P. Stillwater, Jr. On November - 10 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

Our Week 10 “expert” NFL picks and predictions have been posted and are available for your viewing pleasure on our “Beat the House” contest page. The Week 9 “Beat the House” recap is below.

“The House” was not as successful in week 9 as he had been in the three previous weeks, but it was close. Three picks lay in disagree status heading into the weekend, but only the Miami pick went as predicted. The House pick of the Rams over the Cardinals was close… but ultimately feel the way of the members in overtime.

Miami did kick some ass though, and if the contest was decided by the differential in points scored, the house would be victorious again. Since the House was beaten, a prize pack will be awarded to our top “picker” of the week. With 10 total games correct, and 87 total correct on the year, week 9 prizes go to QUYBOB. Congrats! It was a pretty tough week to pick. Read the rest of this entry »
