Andriasang is reporting that Final Fantasy XIII Versus may follow its predecessor Final Fantasy XIII to the Xbox 360, according to Square-Enix CEO Yoichi Wada.
As reported at Impress Watch, when asked if it would be best to give Versus a multiplatform release on Xbox 360, Wada replied “We’ll be looking into it internally until right before the formal announcement.”
This seems to be a part of Square-Enix trying to improve its failing presence in North America, as evidenced by their purchase of Eidos and future publication of Thief 4, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and other classic Western IPs.
The announcement may not be made at E3 2010, however.
The game’s formal unveiling is widely expected to take place at next month’s E3 expo in Los Angeles, although director Tetsuya Nomura has given some hints that it could come later.
Final Fantasy XIV is currently being developed for Xbox 360 but remains unannounced due to Square-Enix’s negotation with Microsoft over server use. Could Final Fantasy XIII Versus be the price Microsoft is demanding for Square-Enix to use their own servers?
