NFL week 3 has some interesting matchups. One of the biggest matchups this week is the 2-0 Atlanta Falcons at 2-0 San Diego Chargers. One of these teams will walk away with their first loss of the season. The San Diego Chargers have yet to play a formidable opponent this season. Week one the Chargers beat the Oakland Raiders and followed that up with a thrashing of the Tennessee Titians. The key to the Bolts winning this game is stopping the run. This means stopping former teammate Michael Turner.
If the Atlanta Falcons can establish a running game, they will open up the secondary for Matt Ryan and crew. The Atlanta Falcons offence has looked great their first two games. Wide receiver Julio Jones has racked up 122 yards and two touchdowns already this year. Future Hall of Famers wide receiver Roddy White and tight end Tony Gonzalez also stepped up; both veterans show no signs of slowing down.
The San Diego Chargers also have a Canton bound tight end. Antonio Gates is the healthiest he has been in years. The downside is he will not have wide reciever Vincent Jackson drawing coverage. Robert Meachem and Malcom Floyd are both solid wide receivers but let’s face it neither of them is Vincent Jackson.
Most Vegas lines show spread of San Diego -3 over Atlanta and the under and over set at 47.5 points. I like the Falcons and the points, I actually see the Atlanta Falcons walking away with the win and eventually taking the NFC South.
