The Death Thread
#1
This thread is long overdue. We should have started it a few months ago during The Summer of Death. We need somewhere to start posting all of these death notices. This can be the first, unless someone feels like moving the others over.

Wrestler, personality Captain Lou Albano dies at 76

(CNN) -- Legendary wrestling figure Captain Lou Albano, perhaps best known for his association with pop singer Cyndi Lauper, died Wednesday, according to World Wrestling Entertainment.

Captain Lou Albano reached a new level of fame in the '80s with his association with Cyndi Lauper.

Albano, 76, was "one of the company's most popular and charismatic legends," the company said in a statement.

The cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

"Albano began his storied career with Vincent J. McMahon in the 1960s as one half of 'The Sicilians' tag team with his partner Tony Altimore," the WWE said. "He will be greatly missed by the WWE and his fans."

The world's shortest man, China's He Pingping, who was just over 29 inches tall, has died at the age of 21 from apparent heart complications, the Guinness World Records book said.

He, who suffered a form of primordial dwarfism and was recognized as a world-record holder in 2008, died on Saturday in Rome, where he was taking part in a TV show.

“For such a small man, he made a huge impact around the world,” Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of the London-based Guinness World Records, said in a statement.

He was born in China's northern region of Inner Mongolia in 1988. According to the BBC, he was admitted to hospital two weeks ago after suffering a chest complaint.

Guinness announced his death late on Monday.

He was a chain smoker and his family said he stopped growing after he turned 18.
