Incoming - USA Dean Baby Z
#11
Zebras, double cremes, or nickel covers. Can't go wrong IMHO.
Someone should put that in their signature…

Jennings has one of those Explorer Pros but I have never laid hands on it , he says it is REALLY nice.

Best $1300 I've ever spent. It was my first Gibson, and brand new guitar. The quality is far superior to what the price reflects. It's cool to know there are only 400 across the globe too.

The USA Baby Z, is pretty much the same thing. Should be pretty close on build quality too. I'm with Agile though, don't care for the switch placement. Maybe swap positions with the volume?

I'm sure if it you or I, we'd break out the router, move it to the horn, and wire it for 2V 1T.
I hear Mexico is nice this time of year.

That's certainly an intriguing option, though I definitely lack the time and probably lack the skills to do the job, considering I don't want to put a pickguard on it, and doweling the switch hole just to move the toggle and volume around (switch holes are a good bit larger than pot holes).

I think I'm just gonna use it as is for a good while.

Sorry I missed this. I don't generally leave the uig lol.

Binding at end of board, first fret marker, and big post bridge mark it as a late 90s Tropical era from Plant City, FL. Serial should be near body end of the fretboard, stamped into the wood. First 2 digits are year. I had a full size 96 ML that was my first Dean. Great guitar. Not sure about the Babys but all the others from that era had bigass neck profiles.

Mahogany/mahogany, pups Should be JB/59 or JB/JB. Bridge might be a Trembucker. COOL!!

Thanks for the info, Brandon!

Here's a pic of the serial. Is it me, or does it look like it says "CS" before the number?

Easiest to just move it to the middle spot for sure or just get used to it where it sits by playing it for the next 3 weeks non-stop continuously.

I don't have a problem with the placement by any means - it bothers me more that the knobs are so close, and even that doesn't bother me much.

I think I was just spoiled a bit by the process of choosing all of the specs on my custom build.

Looks to me like that says 96 as the first 2 numbers as I see it from here ?
