They overpaid:

Greg Jennings, the last high-profile free-agent wide receiver on the market, signed with the Minnesota Vikings Friday night for five years and $47.5 million with $18 million guaranteed. The Green Bay Packers, the other finalist, didn't match that number.

Maybe Ireland will ask him if his fake dead girlfriend was a prostitute.

It’s fitting that the rocky relationship between the Jets and cornerback Darrelle Revis would end with the player’s camp throwing one final stone at the franchise.

“The organization is not committed to winning,” a source close to Revis told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News in the aftermath of the trade that sends Revis to Tampa Bay.

The Patriots treaded down? They need help at a lot of positions, I guess they need the picks.

The Music, Science and Soundtrack of Chip Kelly’s Funhouse

Quote:Here you stare at the assembled media as they sit(!) at the Novacare Complex and watch the first open Eagles practice of the Chip Kelly era. You’ll notice Tim McManus in the foreground, Les Bowen and Rich Hoffman behind him, John Gonzalez, John Clark, and even the sweater vest G Cobb wore in his car cam video. They enthusiastically watched as Kelly showed off his funhouse on the field.

What’s different? Well, for starters, reporters are now allowed to sit on the concrete bleachers (a real treat!), something that was outlawed under Andy Reid. There are no huddles anymore– huddles are for the weary. And now practice includes a soundtrack that appears to be a strange hybrid of Jock Jams and Now, Volume 602…

That is an interesting soundtrack

Chad Johnson gets 30 days in jail for probation violation

Not since Vincent LaGuardia Gambini found himself repeatedly in contempt has the lack of courtroom decorum had such dire consequences.

According to Local10.com, former NFL receiver Chad Johnson appeared in court today in connection with allegations that he violated probation by failing to keep in touch with his probation officer. Though prosecutors initially wanted Johnson to be jailed for the infraction, a plea deal was reached.

Under the terms of the agreement, Johnson’s probation would have been extended to December 21, and he would have performed 25 hours of community service.

“You better thank your lawyer. He did a great job for you,” Broward Circuit Court Judge Kathleen McHugh told Johnson after accepting the agreement.

Johnson responded by slapping attorney Adam Swickle on the butt. Which prompted the judge to call the whole thing off.

She believed Johnson wasn’t taking the situation seriously, so she rejected the plea deal and sentenced him to 30 days in jail.

Johnson pleaded no contest last year to battery of his wife, who has since divorced him. He was cut by the Dolphins in the aftermath of the arrest.

The good news is that he’ll be free in time for training camp. The bad news is that there isn’t, and won’t be, a training camp to attend.
