ESPN’s College Football Live, a weekday afternoon studio show dedicated to college football which debuted last year, will return Monday, July 21, and will now be aired year-round. Brent Musburger will host the first two shows live from ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn.
The 30-minute program will be aired each weekday at 3:30 p.m. ET with primary host Rece Davis and some of the most knowledgeable and experienced college football analysts. The show will examine every aspect of the game with highlights, analysis, breaking news, features, press conferences, interviews and more. ESPNU’s recruiting trail will also take a weekly look at the recruiting battles over top high school football players. In addition, the program will now be aired year round; last season’s show ceased production in January.
One new element of the show will be interactive reporter Molly Qerim who will be in charge of all the interactive elements. Qerim will handle live feedback during the show, as well as daily online polls and fans who upload sound-offs.
“After last year’s success, we focused on creating new ways for our fans to get involved and interact with the analysts,” said Antoine Lewis, coordinating producer of College Football Live. “We are bringing back elements from last year’s show, but by introducing Molly (Qerim), we are taking fan interactivity to a whole new level.”
College Football Live’s additional interactive elements to bring the viewer closer to the show include:
Extra Points – Analysts tackle viewer generated e-mails and questions at the end of each show.
Sound Off – Fans upload videos about their favorite teams for a chance to be on the show.
Live Feedback – Fans can post comments online during the show and get them posted live on the air.
College Football Live will also feature in-depth interviews with some of the top coaches and players in the country, unique college football features and interactive fan polls and contests. Scheduled guests in the first few weeks include:
Interviews with top coaches including Ohio State’s Jim Tressel, Arkansas’ Bobby Petrino, Florida State’s Bobby Bowden, LSU’s Les Miles, Michigan’s Rich Rodriguez, USC’s Pete Carroll, Tennessee’s Phil Fulmer and Georgia’s Mark Richt all within the first two weeks of the show.
Interviews with the nation’s best players including Florida QB Tim Tebow, Texas Tech QB Graham Harrell, Pitt RB LeSean McCoy and Kansas QB Todd Reesing.
Musburger will be joined on the first show by analysts Jesse Palmer and Todd Blackledge. They will welcome coach Tressel and Heisman Trophy winner Tebow as guests. Additionally, fans will have a chance to vote in a daily bracket-style tournament to determine which school has college football’s best helmet.
Primary host Davis will take over July 23 and analysts Palmer, Blackledge, Mark May, Desmond Howard, Andre Ware, Bob Griese, Trevor Mattich, Rod Gilmore and many more will join Davis to give their expert opinions throughout the year.
In addition to TV, College Football Live content will be featured on multimedia ESPN outlets. Each day, “campus updates” will be available to users on ESPN.com as well as iTunes. Additionally, re-airs of each show will be accessible for ESPN mobile users.
