Promotion to Benefit Local Food & Beverage Entrepreneurs
Beer lovers in Boston have an excuse to visit their favorite local establishment and enjoy a pint of craft beer this year. Samuel Adams Boston Brick Red, a traditional European style ale handcrafted by the Samuel Adams brewers, is giving craft beer fans an opportunity to give back to the Boston community. For every pint of Samuel Adams Boston Brick Red sold, an additional donation will be made to The Boston Beer Company’s core philanthropic program, Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream.
In June 2008, The Boston Beer Company launched Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream, a program to support low and moderate income microentrepreneurs in the food and beverage industry. Partnering with ACCION USA, the country’s leading not-for-profit micro-lending organization, the program has since provided loans and assistance to 23 food & beverage entrepreneurs in New England, saving or creating 173 jobs. In launching the program, The Boston Beer Company made an initial donation of $250,000 to the fund. Today, with the availability of Samuel Adams Boston Brick Red at bars and restaurants in the Boston area, each keg enjoyed throughout the City will trigger an additional donation of $4.
“I started Samuel Adams back in 1984 on a shoestring. I brewed my original beer, Samuel Adams Boston Lager, in my kitchen. I went bar-to-bar selling it and then had to rent a truck to deliver it,” said Jim Koch, Founder and Brewer of Samuel Adams beers. “Despite the hurdles, I believed in Boston Lager and wanted to share it with beer lovers looking for a fresh and flavorful local beer. Today, through Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream, we’ve already had the opportunity to help 23 local food & beverage entrepreneurs pursue their own dream. Our hope is that through sales of Samuel Adams Boston Brick Red, we can help more people.”
With a name inspired by the historic red brick at the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery, Samuel Adams Boston Brick Red has a rich, deep red color and distinctive caramel flavor from pale and caramel malts. The sweetness of the malt is pleasantly balanced by a pronounced hop bitterness. Samuel Adams Boston Brick Red is currently available on draft at select bars and restaurants in the Boston area.
