Nintendo has announced that the company will be eschewing holding a keynote at E3 2013.
In a statement, Nintendo’s president Saturo Iwata reported:
“During the E3 period, we will utilize our direct communication tools, such as Nintendo Direct, to deliver information to our Japanese audience … and we will take the same approach outside Japan for the overseas fans as well.”
At E3, Nintendo will be having a closed event for American distributors and another closed hands-on event for the Western gaming media.
Could Nintendo be following Sega’s footsteps? Stay tuned.
In unrelated news, Nintendo also announced that the Nintendo DS was being retired after 10 strong years. It was replaced by the Nintendo 3DS two years ago.
