This happened mere hours after he was arrested in his wife’s killing, according to police. The boxing legend was found by another inmate, Valero tied his clothes to a cell bar to hang himself.

Edwin Valero was detained Sunday on suspicion of killing his wife in a hotel room. Prosecutors were sure to charge Valero seeing he allegedly told hotel security he had killed his 24 year old wife Jennifer Viera.

The former WBA super featherweight and WBC lightweight champion had a 27-0 record all by knockouts. The pride of Venezuelans Valero was refered to as “Inca,” alluding to an Indian warrior.
