Howard Stern’s Update on Artie Lange: No Update

artielangeIf you were waiting until Howard Stern took the mic on Monday morning to find out the latest on Artie Lange’s health, you’ll be waiting a bit longer. Howard had almost no comment on the weekend reports that show companion Artie Lange was rushed to the hospital on Saturday.

The show went on as usual Monday morning without even a reference to the absent Artie Lange. It continued that way for a good 45 minutes to an hour until a fan called in and pestered Howard for an update. Stern finally acknowledged the incident, but not much more. His quote is as follows:

[smartads]

“We know Artie has problems. He’s documented them well in books and on this radio show, but look… the family is saying that this is their business. This is what they want to talk about when they want to talk about it and I honor that. That’s all you’re going to get out of me.”

Robin expressed her love for Artie as well, but was just as mum.

However, Howard did address the rumors that popped up over the last week that Jim Breuer, formerly of Saturday Night Live and now a fellow show host on Sirius XM Satellite Radio, would be taking Artie’s chair on a permanent basis. According to Stern, those rumors are completely false.

If you are as familiar with the show as I am, you know Artie’s current events will not go unacknowledged for long. I am expecting at least a call in from Artie this week… unless he is worse shape than everyone thinks.

It had appeared that Artie was getting the upper hand on his demons in recent weeks until he missed the first two weeks in December for unacknowledged reasons.

Good Luck, Artie!
