Hackers Vow To Continue Attacks on Sony Corporation

Anonymous states they will renew their attacks on Sony Corporation (ADR) (Public, NYSE:SNE) after PlayStation Network returns – but they stress they will not attack PSN itself.

VGN 365 asked one of the members of Anonymous to confirm this:

When we asked Anonymous member Kato – who will be involved in the next attack against Sony – via their IRC about the group’s future plans regarding attacks on Sony, Kato told VGN365 that they are currently preparing their next attack against Sony; it’ll be scheduled to happen when the PlayStation Network is back online – the attack will NOT be against the PSN, just to clarify.

This seems to imply that the current PSN outage is not Anonymous’ work.

Anonymous (used as a mass noun) is an Internet meme originating 2003 on the imageboard 4chan, representing the concept of many online community users simultaneously existing as an anarchic, digitized global brain. Beginning with 2008, the Anonymous collective has become increasingly associated with collaborative, international hacktivism, undertaking protests and other actions, often with the goal of promoting internet freedom and freedom of speech. Actions credited to “Anonymous” are undertaken by unidentified individuals who apply the Anonymous label to themselves as attribution… From Wikipedia
