Harley Quinn Gets New Voice in Arkham City as Tara Strong Steps into the Role

Voice over actress Arleen Sorkin will not be voicing Harley Quinn in Batman: Arkham City, which the actress had done since the character was conceived in Batman: The Animated Series. She will be replaced by veteran actress Tara Strong, who voiced The Huntress in Batman: Brave And The Bold.

Her hiring was announced in a Q&A on the Batman community forums.

When asked how different Harley was from The Huntress, Strong obliquely paid homage to Sorkin:

“Stepping into the role of Harley Quinn is an enormous honor that I do not take lightly. She has an established voice and character that I definitely wanted to honor. Huntress is a completely different character that I helped create vocally from scratch.”

Strong also commented on the character’s role with The Joker.

“Harley Quinn is classically protective of The Joker, fiercely so. She has a unique mix of psychopath and vulnerable girl sweetness. She is crafty and sharp. I see her as a force to be reckoned with.”

Batman: Arkham City is due to be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 18, 2011.
