A new rumor swirling around Mass Effect 3 is that it’ll feature a four player co-op mode that will not compromise the single-player portion of the game. This four-player, online-enabled co-op mode is allegedly a standalone Horde-style mode, which challenges players to shoot-to-kill waves of enemies. and has “competitive elements”.
At E3 2011, Eurogamer pressed BioWare on whether the Mass Effect 3 rumor was true. BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka responded:
“We haven’t talked at all about multiplayer in the Mass Effect franchise, but we’re exploring multiplayer in all of our games and all of our franchises. It’s always an idea we’re interested in.”
He then cagily finished:
“The short answer is we have no comment on that. But we’re interested in the idea of multiplayer.”
This puts Electronic Arts delay of the game to March 6, 2012 in a whole new light, doesn’t it?
