NFL 2010 Offseason

"Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant twisted his ankle toward the end of Sunday's rookie minicamp practice at Cowboys Stadium. Bryant, the team's top draft pick, limped to a team huddle and had his left shoe off as he walked gingerly to the team bus. He was not available for comment. Coach Wade Phillips said Bryant was fine."

Former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress caught a serious punishment during his stint behind bars -- dude lost his recreational time privileges for one month after lying to a guard.

According to the New York Post, Plaxico was smacked with a one-month ban from recreational time at the Oneida Correctional Facility back in November after he allegedly told a guard that he had secured permission to make a phone call ... when in fact, he had not.

Aside from the rec. time ban, Plaxico -- who's doing a two-year term for that whole "I shot myself in the leg" thing -- was also grounded from phone privileges for one week as well.

Plax is scheduled to be released in the Spring of 2011.

I don't know which one is least shocking....

Raiders cut Jamarcus Russell
Quote:Move over Ryan Leaf, Tony Mandarich and Charles Rogers(notes). The NFL has another contender for biggest draft bust.

After three years, more than $39 million and only seven wins as the starting quarterback for the Oakland Raiders, JaMarcus Russell’s(notes) career in Oakland is over.

The top overall pick in the 2007 draft, Russell was a colossal failure in Oakland. Two weeks after acquiring quarterback Jason Campbell(notes) from Washington, the Raiders released Russell. At 24, his NFL career is at a crossroads, and whether he’ll even get an offer from another club is problematic.

Lawrence Taylor charged with NY rape of minor
Quote:Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was charged Thursday with raping a 16-year-old runaway who police said was forced into prostitution by a man who had beaten her up.

Taylor, a 51-year-old former New York Giants star who has faced drug and tax evasion charges in the past, paid the girl $300 for sex in a Holiday Inn, where he was arrested early Thursday, said Christopher St. Lawrence, supervisor of the town of Ramapo.

Neither is shocking. Taylor is a POS. He has has so many chances. I would hope at this point he would be considered a toxic asset and no one is looking to work with him.

Terrell Owens tweeted the following: "Miami bound..." And about 10 seconds later I got a bunch of twitter followers asking if this meant Owens is going to sign with the Dolphins. From what I can see, many of Owens' own followers recognized the same possibility and asked him if he's coming to sign. Ah, the Internet. Anyway, I cannot confirm for you the specific reason Owens is coming to Miami. He has a place here, I know that. He often trains down here. But I can confirm for you that T.O. is not coming to join the Dolphins, according to a club source. I think the Dolphins generally like their receiver corps now that Brandon Marshall is part of the group. And I do not see ..."

Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco, who launched the Ocho Cinco News Network last year as part of a brilliant personal marketing campaign, has dropped a very strong hint regarding the next destination of former Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell.

Ochocinco says to Russell, "I'll see you at minicamp" and then, "Oops, did I just leak that info?" (Which is dangerously close to, "Did I do that?" . . . which makes us think that Chad perhaps should be doing the Urkel on Dancing with the Stars.)

In response, ESPN's Adam Schefter claims that the Bengals and others have called Russell, but that "there are no plans for him to be at any minicamps now."

Raiders want $9.55M back from Russell

Quote:The Oakland Raiders have filed a grievance seeking nearly $10 million back from recently released quarterback JaMarcus Russell(notes).

Yahoo! Sports first reported the story Thursday, saying the Raiders are seeking $9.55 million from Russell in what was paid as salary advances for the 2010-12 seasons. The team later confirmed the report.

“We have filed a grievance against JaMarcus Russell and that’s all we’re going to say at this time,” Raiders general counsel Jeff Birren said in a statement.

Russell was released earlier this month after three disappointing seasons with the team. He had been paid about $36.4 million through last season and was still owed $3 million at the time of his release.

Russell’s agent, Eric Metz, did not immediately return an e-mail seeking a comment. He earlier told Yahoo that: “The money in question was fully guaranteed. That is why JaMarcus was forced to hold out and miss all of training camp as a rookie. The Raiders know that and this is our only comment.”

Al Davis does this shit all the time but you never hear the results. He probably loses every one of these cases.
