Hacker group LulzSec has announced that they’ll be targeting Xbox Live, Facebook and Twitter, and even claim to have stolen a file with usernames and passwords last night from Live and posted it. However, said file was removed before it could be verified.

Xbox Live has been up, but the Xbox Live site and Xbox.com had been up and down in the past few weeks, which could be Microsoft’s reaction to hacking attempts. Read the rest of this entry »

Mila Kunis and Mark Walberg were on location in Somerville, Mass just outside of Boston last night. TMRZoo was there. For those of you not familiar with the area, Somerville is at the opposite end of the subway line from Mark’s birthplace in Dorchester. To put this in perspective, Gone Baby Gone and The Departed are South Boston/Dorchester flicks. Somerville/Cambridge is more along the lines of Good Will Hunting and The Social Network. TMR Movie Review: SUPER 8

Posted by Joe Viglione On June - 14 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

With perhaps the most spectacular train wreck in film history, director J.J.Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg have all the elements for an all-time Science Fiction classic. Alas, in attempting to reach serious Sci-Fi fans and children, by wanting to be all things to all people, the movie tends to dissipate by serving two masters.

According to BoxOfficeMojo.com “Distributor Paramount Pictures’ exit polling indicated that 71 percent of Super 8‘s audience was over 25 years old and 56 percent was male”, which, I believe, proves my point. The June 4th critics screening – on a weekend when the June 3rd passing of actor James Arness was announced – was eerie as SUPER 8 has more elements from the Gunsmoke actor’s iconic Sci-Fi role as “The Thing” (From Another World) than Spielberg’s E.T. or Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. It’s too bad that Arness didn’t make a guest appearance in this…Kyle Chandler (TV’s Early Edition; films The Day The Earth Stood Still and King Kong) plays Jackson Lamb (shades of John Cusack as Jackson Curtis in 2012) with veteran actor Bruce Greenwood also in for some of the fun…the vets holding up an array of new faces, which seems to be the formula these days…and a good one for establishing new actors via Sci-Fi vehicles…think Christopher Reeve. Activision Blizzard, Inc. HBO Game of Thrones Review: Episode 9 – Baelor

Posted by John Cashman On June - 13 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

I’ve been anticipating/dreading this episode since this series was first announced. If you haven’t seen the episode, stop reading now and come back after you have.

If you have seen it, well… I’m not exactly sure how to start this recap/review, so I’ll just state the facts. Ned Stark is dead, beheaded as a traitor on the teenaged whim of an arrogant king. He tried to do what was right in the viper’s nest of King’s Landing; he had some chances along the way to make things turn out differently (like not revealing his plans to Cersei, or backing Renly and accepting the help of his soldiers) but his inflexible honor made all that impossible. When he finally bent his moral code of conduct (for the sake of his children’s safety) and “confessed to his crimes” on the steps of Baelor’s Sept, it was too late. Ned, you brave, noble fool. You will be missed. Read the rest of this entry »

Sud Savant: Flossmoor Station – Pullman Brown Ale

Posted by Guest Contributor On June - 13 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

I’ve been reading about how in June one is supposed to be drinking beers from the state in which they live to help support your true local craftbrewers.  While this is rather difficult for myself as I live in a small market, I would like to think that I should be able to represent the Midwest rather soundly, if not the state of Illinois itself.  That said, today’s beer is from a brewery that has been garnering some talk around the craft beer aisles.  Its name is Flossmoor Station Brewing Company and it qualifies for being in my state (Flossmoor, IL).  They have several styles that are getting snatched up quickly so I had to try it for myself.  Let’s pour! Vitamin D for a Healthier Heart

Posted by Dominick Walsh On June - 11 - 2011 ADD COMMENTS

Can you fend off heart problems just by popping a vitamin? Sounds too good to be true. But it isn’t. In a recent study, people who were D deficient had stiffer arteries and the cells that lined their arteries showed greater signs of dysfunction. But everything got better quickly — and their blood pressure improved, too! — once they got their D levels back to normal. Read the rest of this entry »
