Helen Keller could see this story unraveling. KDKA in Pittsburgh is reporting Ben Roethlisberger has admitted to having “sexual contact” with the woman who accuses him of sexual assault. Ben Roethlisberger still denies having sexual intercourse with the accuser.
The Steelers quarterback seems to be taking a page out of Bill Clinton’s book. Ben is trying to define what sexual contact is. The problem with that is it didn’t work for Clinton, it won’t work for Ben.
Making this story more troubling is the fact Ben is finally admitting the young woman had some injuries. Roethlisberger claims the woman fell and hurt her head following their sexual contact. If she “fell” I doubt she would have immediately visited a hospital and filed the accusation of assault on Big Ben.
Something is going on here and Ben Roethlisberger continues to get the Heisman from everyone around him. The agent for teammate Willie Colon, who was with Roethlisberger the night of the incident, says the lineman has “no knowledge of the incident and his name should not be brought up about this incident again.”
Now we know two Pittsburgh-area police officers were with Ben Roethlisberger as the Steelers quarterback celebrated his 28th birthday last week in Georgia.
“Coraopolis Officer Anthony Barravecchio and state police Trooper Ed Joyner accompanied Roethlisberger and others to a series of bars in Milledgeville, Ga., the college town close to where Roethlisberger owns a home”, said Beaver County attorney Michael Santicola.
“They are all friends, and they were together to celebrate,” said Santicola, who is representing Barravecchio and described himself as Joyner’s friend. “They saw absolutely nothing that would indicate any crime was committed that weekend. They are a little bit shocked that this is even happening because they saw nothing criminal.”
It seems like everyone involved in this case is “lawyering up” and distancing themselves from Roethlisberger. My only question is “was 20 year girl drinking”? If so Barravecchio and Joyner did see something criminal, an underage girl being supplied with alcohol. If Roethlisberger was buying the rounds which I would imagine he was this could be a problem. If the cops bought rounds it could be a nightmare.
Police are seeking a DNA sample from the Steelers QB, and have seized security camera footage from the bar where the assault allegedly took place. I would imagine the seizure of bar receipts and credit card records will be next.
