Atunga Reunites: Greg Cherone’s Classic Boston Band Gets Back Together

The Cherone, Farren and Munro families have created musical dynasties in Malden and along with the first ever album from Charlie Farren and Jon Butcher – FBI – Farren Butcher, Inc just released this month comes the reunion of Greg Cherone’s band, Atunga. Hugh O’Neill’s – at 45 Pleasant Street – added a Thursday night concert series about three months ago – along with the well-established Wednesday Acoustic Open Mic nights, club booker Jeff Munro told this publication in an interview.

Thursday May 26th will feature an 8 and 11 pm concert with Atunga and special guest Lisa Fullerton. Admission is free If you’ve viewed “Souvenirs”, the four minute and twenty two second clip on YouTube, or the four minute and eleven seconds of “Celebrities and Insects” on that same website, you have an idea of the hard-grinding guitar power of this unique group.
