When the Government Went Down, Porn Viewing Went Up

After a 16-day pissing match, the government shut-down is officially over (for now). No matter which side of the fence you are on in politics or during the crisis, one thing is for sure… when the smoke clears, it is always the American people who get the shaft.

Speaking of shafts and how they relate to the shut-down… the statisticians over at Pornhub.com, the premier destination for online adult entertainment, took a peek into their traffic stats over the past two weeks to see what furloughed U.S. public employees have been up to in their spare time.

It turns out, according to the ‘Hub’s findings, people seem to be catching up on some much-missed downtime with their laptops with their favorite “actresses”. Leading the pack was Nevada, with a 42% spike in viewing during the shut-down. The other states with increased porn viewing are shown in the graphic below. In the order of increase %, they were:

1. Nevada – 42.0%
2. Oklahoma – 21.2%
3. Florida – 13.9%
4. Georgia – 8.2%
5. New York – 7.9%
6. Illinois – 6.3%
7. Vermont – 5.2%
8. Pennsylvania – 5.2%
9. Maryland – 5.2%
10 Ohio – 5.1%
