After a months time and thousands of entries, at roughly 10:45pm EST on May 8th, our Johnny Manziel 2014 NFL Draft Contest came to a close.
With the 22nd pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns selected Johnny Manziel, quarterback from Texas A&M. Therefore, the correct answers in our contest were Cleveland Browns and Round 1.
That combination was one of the more popular guesses in the contest. It wasn’t looking too strong for many of you when the Browns selected corner back Justin Gilbert with their 8th overall pick. But then, magic happened as the Philadelphia Eagles traded the 22nd overall pick to the Browns and Johnny Football took the stage.
Per the rules, when there are multiple correct entries, a winner is selected at random from those correct entries. Therefore, our 2014 Johnny Manziel 2014 NFL Draft contest winner is…
Manuel Capitao Jr.
Congratulations, Manuel… and Johnny Manziel. Manziel wins an NFL career and Mr. Capitao wins a movie prize pack.
Surprising to some, but not all, was that Manziel was the second quarterback to be selected in the draft, and not the first. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Blake Bortles with the third overall pick. The only other QB to go in the first round was Teddy Bridgewater, whom the Vikings selected with the 32nd overall and last pick in the first round.
Now that the Johnny Manziel Contest has come to a close, a new contest shall be born… the TMRZoo.com “First Picked, Last Signed” contest where you guess which of the 32 players selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft will be the very last to sign with the team that selected him. Stay Tuned for the official kickoff.
