Cedars Restaurant, located at the world class Foxwoods Resort and Casino, is a dining experience you will talk about long after you return home. Reservations are highly recommended as the restaurant fills quickly. The moment my wife and I entered the plush waiting area we were warmly welcomed by Frank and advised that our table would be ready shortly.
It was only a few minutes before we were shown to our table in the busy but comfortable dining room. We had a great view through the large picture windows of the people bustling about through the resort. This gave the impression that you were sitting in an outdoor bistro.
Our server Mark quickly greeted us and brought us an assortment of warm and delicious rolls along with some outstanding raspberry butter. Sampling the assorted rolls left us anticipating the meal to come.
We started the meal with a Caesar Salad which was crisp and had just the right amount of dressing and was topped with shaved parmeggiano cheese. We also ordered the Lobster Bisque that was deliciously creamy and just the right size.
For the main course we ordered the Filet Mignon and the Sea Bass, which was the special of the evening. The Filet Mignon rates as high as any of the famous steak houses located in Boston. A baked potato with sour cream and green beans accompanied the filet. These sides were a nice compliment to the beef. The Sea Bass was fresh, wonderfully buttery and flaky with just the right amount of seasoning. It was accompanied by crisp asparagus spears that were cooked just right.
The wait staff were very attentive. We had a nice view of the clean kitchen from our table and were able to see the cooks working their magic. The staff looked very organized and had a good flow of food coming out of the kitchen.
Even though we were full from an enjoyable dinner we wanted to try a dessert. The menu had many great selections and we were unable to make up our mind. We asked our waitress Michelle to recommend a dessert and she recommended the Fruit Fiesta.
This was an almond nougat dipped in dark chocolate filled with white mousse and fresh fruit such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and kiwi and topped with shavings of white chocolate. The almond nougat had a crispy crunch that complimented the creamy mousse. The fruit was wonderfully fresh and sweet. It was absolutely delicious and an excellent compliment to an outstanding dinner. Michelle’s recommendation was perfect.
Cedars has been at Foxwoods Resort for the past 13 years and lives up to its reputation as a classic gourmet restaurant. We had a thoroughly enjoyable dinner and have highly recommended Cedars to our friends and family.
