As we previously mentioned, it has been a pretty boring free agency period so far. When the Washington Redskins cut a handful of players, some that were big free agent signings of year’s past, and make NO big signings this season, you know it’s a down year. It appears that teams are being overly cautious as we head into an unknown era of no salary cap and uncertainty with the collective bargaining agreement.
The Chicago Bears made the biggest splash by signing both Julius Peppers and Chester Taylor. There were a few other big contracts awarded on day 1, but the money certainly doesn’t match up to the talents of the player whose name in on the contract.
Day Two saw nothing substantial other than Kerry Rhodes being traded from the Jets to the Cardinals for a few later-round draft picks. There were a handful of other re-signings and unsexy free agent signings.
The third day of free agency saw former Green Bay Packers defensive lineman-turned-linebacker Aaron Kampman getting signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars and instantly converted back into a defensive end. A pair of signing by the Browns were the only other happenings on Sunday.
The following is a day-by-day, team-by-team breakdown of all the transactions that occurred during the first three days of the 2010 NFL Free Agency period:
