Reporter Ines Sainz a sports reporter from Mexico’s TV Azteca who was reportedly catcalled and harassed by members of the New York Jets last week. The reported behavior of Rex Ryan’s New York Jets towards Ines Sainz should not shock anyone. Especially anyone who has seen HBO’s reality show Hard Knocks.

Hard Knocks shows us that the New York Jets are an old school boys club. The HBO cameras picked up all of the team’s scars – the spitting, the swearing and the scratching. This group of millionaires acts more like a construction crew than their financial contemporaries on Wall Street. Read the rest of this entry »

In reaffirming the NFL’s commitment to equal access for all members of the news media, Commissioner Roger Goodell announced today that the league will implement a training program for all 32 teams on proper conduct in the workplace and develop an expanded set of best practices for media relations. These programs and practices will supplement the league’s current media policy and improve the ability of clubs to maintain a professional environment in the workplace.

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has agreed to underwrite the training program, which also will be given to NFL rookies next year to help educate incoming players on how to deal professionally with news media and others in the workplace. The training program and related set of best practices will be developed by the NFL office in consultation with the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM). It will be implemented at each team on an expedited basis this season. Read the rest of this entry »

The New York Jet’s Mark Sanchez is Looking A Lot Like Ryan Leaf

Working here at TMRzoo is my fist real job since almost graduating from Yazoo County High School…Go Panthers! I did work at Yazoo City Federal Correctional Facility for a spell but they told me upfront that job would only be for 3 – 6 months. So now I am here in the big time writing about football for TMR Entertainment. My Mom told me 2 things when I took this job she said “Cletus mind your manners and make sure you learn something new every day”.

I have been very friendly with all of my co-workers, though the monkey TMR keeps in the office is getting on my nerves. There is nothing more irritating than a monkey high on cheap beer. I have also been writing down what I have leant each week and I figured I would share it with you folks on Saturdays. Read the rest of this entry »

Week 2 NFL “Beat the House” Picks and Predictions

Posted by Steve Tomassetti On September - 18 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

That’s 1 week down, and 16 more to go for the 2010 NFL regular season. Week 1 saw it’s ups and downs and we were treated to our yearly opening-weekend upsets. Week 2 looks like it could be a bit more stable, but who knows at this point. Teams we are expecting to be good, could wet the bed, and bad teams from last year could instantly be contender this season. There is only one way to find out, and that is to keep watching.

Our in-house NFL expert, Cletus, only picked 6 games correctly last week, so he is looking to redeem himself. Fortunately for most people reading this, is that when the members pick games better than Cletus, he sends you prizes. In week 1 he is sending out a DVD prize pack and a Nerf football to the lone member who picked 13 out of the 16 games correctly. Read the rest of this entry »

After a summer of waiting for it, week 1 of the new NFL season is in the books. The results certainly will affect how Vegas, and their “customers”, will view the roster of games in week 2. In our exclusive contest, “Beat the House“, the Houston Texans win over the Indianapolis Colts is certainly affecting the voting since they are being picked heavily over the Washington Redskins. The same goes for the Vegas line as, right now, they have the Texans as a 3-point favorite IN Washington with 75% of the action going towards Houston. That line and % will change so check our weekly NFL page to see the up-to-the-minute point spread and other data.

We’re here to give you everything you would possibly need on week 2 of the NFL season, including our site predictions, the Beat the House contest entry form, the Jagermeister Players of the Week entry form, all week 2 point spreads, betting lines, over/unders and more.

If you are unfamiliar with our “Beat the House” contest, the rules are simple. Agree or disagree with our in-house football seer’s picks and if you do better, you have a chance to win a DVD prize pack, a Nerf Pro-Grip football and possibly a Jagermeister 6-bottle shot cooler. NFL Week 1: AFC and NFC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week

Posted by Steve Tomassetti On September - 15 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

The NFL Players of the Week for week 1, Kickoff weekend, have been announced and are shown below… and to the left. As in most cases during the first week of the season, not a single member entering our “Jagermeister Player of the Week” contest guessed a single one of the players correctly. That’s right, none of the four players were even guessed once, by anyone. We typically see a dark horse making an impression right out of the gate each year.

The Week 1 NFL Players of the Week are: Read the rest of this entry »

Week 1 NFL Recap and “Beat the House” Results & The Return of Michael Vick

Posted by Cletus P. Stillwater, Jr. On September - 14 - 2010 4 COMMENTS

Well, my career as the grand pickmaster at the TMR Zoo did not get off to a very good start. In my debut week making the “House” picks, I only called 6 out of the first 16 games right. Pa always told me, “if you can’t win, quit”, but he’s missing one leg and all his teeth, so what does he know… I’m gonna give it another shot.

Each year the opening week has a few shocking results, which I was counting on, but it looks like I picked the wrong upsets. I was banking on the Lions and Raiders making big opening day statements against their second-tier opponents, but it was the Texans and the Chiefs that were the kickoff week winners. The Texans played the Colts while the Chiefs hosted the Chargers… both playoff teams from the previous year expected to return there again. The point spreads were not very big in those games, so that is something you should watch in future weeks. You can see them right next to my picks each week on the Beat the House entry page.

NFL Week 1 Recap – Quick Facts and Statistics

Posted by Steve Tomassetti On September - 13 - 2010 1 COMMENT

The 2010 NFL Season is finally under way. We saw a varied set of results in the first set of games ranging from the expected to “how the hell did that happen?” All of the scores are in the books, but here are some interesting tidbits concerning some of the kickoff weekend teams and players:

STREAKING STEELERS
The PITTSBURGH STEELERS, who defeated the Atlanta Falcons 15-9 in overtime on Sunday, have won eight consecutive games on Kickoff Weekend, the longest current streak in the NFL. The Steelers (2003-present) have surpassed the Kansas City Chiefs (1990-96) for the fourth-most consecutive wins on Kickoff Weekend since 1970. Read the rest of this entry »

The NFL returns this week. It’s “Back to Football” time. That means the next five months will be packed with the sizzle and suspense that comes only with the National Football League.

Everybody is ready for the unique unpredictability of the NFL. And every team enters the new season with hope.

Last year, 65 percent of the games were within one score (eight points or fewer) in the fourth quarter. Fourteen percent were decided in the final two minutes or overtime. And for the 14th consecutive year, at least five teams made the playoffs after missing out the year before, including the Super Bowl XLIV champion New Orleans Saints. Read the rest of this entry »

Gronkowskis Galore on NFL Opening Day

Posted by TMR Newswire On September - 9 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

For the first time in almost 20 years, three brothers will take the field simultaneously as the NFL opens its 2011 season on Sunday.

The brothers Gronkowski: Rob, Dan, and Chris, each got the news that they made the final 53-man roster for their prospective teams late Saturday.

Rob (TE, Arizona), a second round draft pick of the New England Patriots, was virtually guaranteed his spot on the team after a tremendous preseason. He scored four touchdowns for the Pats in exposition play including a spectacular, highlight reel TD that featured Rob dragging a 250lb linebacker 5 yards while hopping on one leg and diving for the score Read the rest of this entry »

Who dat say gonna beat dem Saints? Dat would be The Atlanta Falcons Dat Who. Living in Yazoo, Mississippi I have my eye on a lot of the NFC South teams. Seeing Mississippi doesn’t have a pro team on Sundays we get what the local FOX affiliate thinks is the important game of the week. This year I expect to see a lot of the Atlanta Falcons and The reining Superbowl champion New Orleans Saints.

One thing you can say about this division is that it is true to it’s name. The NFC South has 4 true southern football teams in it’s division. It doesn’t get more redneck than Louisiana, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida. All four of those states have more trailers than teeth. In true southern smash mouth football tradition the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints look to be forces in the NFC this year. Read the rest of this entry »

When a player sucks ultimately they have limited choices. Once dropped they play in the CFL, UFL or go to sell cars at Bob Smith’s Auto Mile. Why don’t we have this option when a team sucks? Or in the case of the NFC West when the entire division sucks.

The NFC West is so bad that any team in the NFC East could rule that division for years if added to this pack of mediocre teams. The Arizona Cardinals were in the big show two years ago. They are now missing a lot of the offensive and defensive parts that got them to the big game. The big departure is Quarterback Kurt Warner. Without play makers like Kurt Warner, Anquan Boldin and Karlos Dansby I don’t see this team doing much this year. With that in mind they could still take the division. Read the rest of this entry »
