ABC Television announced today the guest appearance of embattled comic legend Bill Cosby on the hit show “Dancing with the Stars”. The announcement was made this morning at a press conference featuring ABC’s Head of Family Programming Geena Talia. Ms. Talia stated “ABC Television is aware of the rumors and accusations circulating about Mr. Cosby. We must be mindful Mr. Crosby has not been charged with a crime and deserves to be treated innocent until proven guilty”.
Talia went on to say “the cast and other DWTS celebrities have loved their time with Bill. Mr. Cosby has been a treat to be around as he continuously keeps the room filled with laughter”. Closing comments from Talia spawned a throng of unanswered questions from the press in attendance. Talia said in closing “ABC is looking forward to their continued relationship with Mr. Cosby”.
Industry insiders think the DWTS appearance will be a vehicle to announce Bill Cosby’s latest project. Before Bill Cosby’s sex scandal broke he was in negotiations with Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) to produce his latest endeavor. Cosby was to star in a sitcom called “Dribblers”. “Dribblers” is about an aging NBA star that gets a second leash on life by coaching a girls’ basketball team at a big city college.
“Dribblers” creator Molly Popper described Cosby’s character as a mentor for the young athletes as he guides them through life’s challenges with sage advice and humor. Popper went on to say “the show address all issues a young woman might encounter being in a large city by herself away from home for the first time”.
Bill Cosby’s appearance on Dancing with the Stars will air on ABC Television nationwide on April 20th. Bill Cosby will appear on “The Jimmy Kimble Show” on April 17th and “Good Morning America” April 20th to promote his “Dancing with the Stars” guest appearance. ABC Television Network operates as a subsidiary of Disney/ABC Television Group (NYSE: DIS).
