Posted by TMR Newswire On March - 16 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

jagermeisterJägermeister, the brand known for decades of involvement with rock and metal bands, continues to own the concert circuit with the 2010 Spring Jägermeister Music Tour featuring Grammy Award winning American rock band KoRn. The tour, which is Jägermeister’s 16th Music Tour, kicks off May 2nd in South Carolina and plays over 25 shows across the nation in celebration of the upcoming release of KoRn’s ninth studio album “KoRn III: Remember Who You Are.”
Emerging with a sound unlike any other in 1994, KoRn has become one of the most important bands in rock n’ roll history. Not including KoRn’s soon to debut album, the LA-based band has released eight full-length studio albums and 11 releases overall, with eight of those selling platinum or platinum plus. KoRn has sold over 30 million albums worldwide, has played countless sold-out shows and has received six Grammy nominations; two of which they have won for “Freak on a Leash” and “Here to Stay” respectively. Their ninth offering, “KoRn III: Remember Who You Are” embraces the savage, raw energy that KoRn’s diehard fans have come to expect over the years while unleashing an uneasiness reminiscent of the band’s most unbridled material. This makes sense, since the record was produced by Ross Robinson, who helmed KoRn’s first two groundbreaking albums. Read the rest of this entry »

Still Life

whiskeyIslayʼs Bruichladdich distillery have re-installed Scotlandʼs oldest pot still. Commissioned in 1880 for the Harvey Brothersʼ purpose-built Islay distillery it is, according to experts, likely to be the oldest pot still in use in Scotland at 130 years old.

The life expectancy of most pot stills is only around forty years. After which, having eroded over the years with constant boiling, the copper becomes too thin and liable to collapse. But this venerable pot still, riveted in the Victorian way, was made with an exceptionally thick copper bottom to endure the intensity of a coal fire underneath it.

1921-tequilaCasa 1921 Tequila, producer and marketer of the ultra-premium 1921 Tequila brand, today announced that it has increased the aging of its 1921 Reserva Especial. Aged for up to eight months, the former Reserva Especial now sits longer in American Oak barrels–a full year–resulting in the new and impressive Reserva Especial Añejo.

Although 1921 has been producing world-class tequilas for a decade this is its first entry into the añejo category. The growing number of 1921 fans who have come to respect these formidable tequilas can now add the 1921 Añejo to their collection. Juan Collado, President of Casa 1921, commented on the change: “Although our Reserva Especial is an extraordinary product, consumers did not understand the term ‘reserva especial’. Blanco, reposado and añejo are industry standard terms and are categories with which consumers are familiar. We were very pleased to discover that the extra time spent in the barrel gave our Reserva Especial Anejo even greater depth of character.” Read the rest of this entry »

Suds With Securb: Pernod Absinthe – The Green Fairy

Posted by Bruce Owens On January - 10 - 2010 1 COMMENT

pernod-absinthe-thumbI have heard many fabled stories about “The Green Fairy” better known as Absinthe. Absinthe has been rumored to be a psychoactive drug. The history of this drink being highly addictive and mortally dangerous is nothing but romantic fiction.

Absinthe is distilled using flowers and leaves of the herb “Grande Wormwood”. Grande Wormwood is used in the production of other spirits and wines, including bitters, vermouth. I have yet to see someone hallucinate after drinking a Martini. Simply stated Wormwood will not make you trip. Keep in mind hops were banned in the 1500’s for the same reasons Absinthe was banned.
