Four more first round draft picks from the 2013 NFL Draft have signed their rookie contracts since we last reported on the status of our First Picked/Last Signed contest. Desmond Trufant (CB – Atlanta Falcons), Bjoern Werner (DE – Indianapolis Colts), Datone Jones (DE – Green Bay Packers) and DeAndre Hopkins (WR – Houston Texans) have all signed four-year contracts in the $7.5M to $8.5M range. The four players were selected with the 22nd, 24th, 26th and 27th overall picks in the order they are listed above.
With this four-pack officially signed into the NFL, it leaves only 11 players without deals from the first round of this year’s draft. Still unsigned is the first overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs, OT Eric Fisher. After Fisher, the highest unsigned player is 7th overall pick, Jonathan Cooper.
Now that most camps are getting started, the teams and players are putting the pressure on each other to get the deals done and not have the young players miss essential practice time.
That leaves only 11 options left for you to guess in our First Picked/Last Signed Contest. The field is getting pretty narrow. To enter the contest, check out the contest entry page and pick the first round draft pick who you think will be the very last to sign his rookie deal. The winner will get a light-up cornhole bean bag toss game.
