In the wake of his “slightly” controversial appearance on the debut episode of HBO’s Joe Buck Live, Artie Lange responded to his critics on the Howard Stern Show Tuesday morning. The entire rant can be seen exclusively on the Howard TV On Demand service starting today, Wednesday, June 17, 2009, and will remain on the service for about three weeks.
The appearance was received by mixed reviews, but the loudest voices are calling it offensive, a bomb or an unmitigated disaster. Artie Lange showed up on the Joe Buck show as everyone expected, as Artie Lange, the foul-mouthed New Yorker who sits co-pilot on the Howard Stern Show. If anyone was expecting anything else, they are fooling themselves.
Artie even earned the disgust of Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, a fellow sports radio personality on the Sirius XM Satellite radio service. Mad Dog claimed he went too far and didn’t need to use such foul language. Artie called in twice to defend himself, claiming HBO knew what they were getting when they invited him and even encouraged his hijinx.
I’m sure this won’t be the only On Demand segment on this issue, so stay tuned here or at HowardTV.com for the latest updates on the situation. Check out the preview below:
